Another edition of Seven Quick-ish Takes

    1. I'm half-watching a TiFaux'ed episode of The Tonight Show and I have to say, I don't get late night television. I think I just don't like the whole stand up monologue part. And? What is Andy Richter doing over there at the podium? Like his title is Professional Fanboy or something. Phillip says he's just doing what Ed McMahon did, but I've never seen the original. AND? I've never heard of the band on these late night shows and that just makes me feel pathetic and old. [ETA: Okay, the "YouTwitFace" thing was kinda funny.]

    2. My new next door neighbors are pregnant. EEEEEEEE!!! Let's not warn them about my mommyblog or my frequent plots to turn unsuspecting neighbors with children into my Thing To Do When I Don't Feel Like Getting In The Car.

    3. My mom and dad drove up this morning to occupy Jack while I went to Molly's 9 month appointment. AND THEN they took him HOME. I was all sniffly (I don't know why it's harder for me to watch him leave OUR house rather than leave him at THEIR house) and Jack was all, "GAMMA HOWSE GAMMA HOWSE!" I think this has something to do with the fact that my mother fills up his watering can as many times as he wants AND buys him cookies the size of his face.

    4. This means we're on our own with Molly and guess who's crying it out tonight? OH YES. And technically we started last night. When she would not could not go back to sleep after a 3 am bottle, we set her up in the pack and play in the living room because THIS IS GETTING RIDICULOUS. She cried about 40 minutes and then slept till seven, a mite better than the 5:30 am wakeups that have become the norm around here. The pediatrician said it might be better to move Jack out of the room instead of Molly, but we're kind of uneasy with that. I don't know. Last night went pretty well all things considered and I have hope for tonight (no bottle for you, Missy!) and maybe I will get to sleep a straight eight (or six! I would settle for six!) hours again in the near future.

    5. Sunburns hurt AND make me feel stupid. I mean, COME ON MAGGIE. Do not wait until you've already been out for an hour to apply your sunscreen and for God's sake find someone else to put it on your back. YOU CAN'T REACH THAT FAR.

    6. I still want that ring

    7. I've been planning what I am going to wear to dinner on my Anniversary Weekend Away (July 3!) and my birthday dinner (even farther away than July 3!) for, like, WEEKS already, HOW PATHETIC IS THAT. More pathetic: how annoyed I am with my sunscreen-applying ineptitude because splotchy tan lines are TOTALLY going to ruin my outfit.

    More quick takes here!

Um you could go to Ashley's little apartment to maybe feel better about your sunburn? She's rockin a good one. Own it sister!

The house behind us is for sale and it would be SO awesome if a young couple moved in! All the people in our subdivision have kids ages 7+. While that will be great for babysitting possibilities someday, I want some friends! (wah!). :)

I am going to Vegas on July 8th and I have already had a video consultation from my friend to tell me what to wear.

You know what's great for putting sunscreen on your back when it's just you and kids who are too young to help out with that? Spray-on sunscreen. We use it anyway because it's so easy, and I came back from our honeymoon pretty much as translucent as I was when we left. You just spray and you're done. No rubbing in required.

As far as Sacramento... I don't know! It all depends.

Maggie....I can't get your email address to show up so I can email you directly, but....I am in for Escape to Sacramento!!!! (...hyperventilating from Fear of New People but powering on, such is the lust for NIGHTS ALONE IN A HOTEL BED....)

You left out the most important part what are you wearing? What are the options? Why yes, yes, I am demanding. There may or may not be pouts and foot stomping. Spare no detail. [taps foot]

    5. That sucks! I had bad tan lines from a burn on my high school senior portraits. Ugh. I second Jess's recommendation of spray sunscreen.

    6. I hope you get it! :)

    7. It's never too early to think about what you're going to wear, IMHO.

I'm with you on the not moving Jack out the room thing. Having just transitioned Christopher from crib to bed and seeing how much it affected him, I can't imagine how moving Jack would be the logical conclusion. After all, he's so much older than Molly and so much more aware. I think you might find yourself in the same situation as you are now, only in the reverse. I hope that things settle down for you guys though - and they will. Transitions rarely seem to be as easy as we think they're going to be. And I hope that Jack had fun at Gamma's Howse! Gamma PLUS cookies the side of your head - how can you go wrong?

I'm anxious to hear how the sleeping is going! My husband is a high school teacher who needs a ridiculous amount of sleep to function, so I've been putting the CIO off. Friday was the last day of school stuff, so Samuel (6 mos) started Friday night.

    It's been fabulous!
