Only mommies get to eat candy for breakfast
Dude, this day was nuts.
Annoying Thing Number One: Molly was wide awake for two or three hours last night, which meant she slept in till eight, which meant she yelled bloody murder when I tried to put her down at 9:30, which meant she fell asleep at 10 and didn't wake up till 11:30. So, goodbye anywhere I wanted to go in the morning!
Annoying Thing Number Two: Jack, who usually "reads" and "sings" and plays quietly (no quotation marks there, I KNOW, God LOVES ME) in his crib while Molly is napping and I'm in the shower, FELL ASLEEP. And didn't wake up till 11:30. HUH?
I have this friend who is newish to the stay at home mom gig, and who needs to feel Un-Isolated, and for WEEKS I've been saying, "Oh I'm home EVERY DAY I can visit you WHENEVER!" Except it has yet to work out because my kids keeping going all WEIRD on me. I mean, I can't remember the last time Jack took an actual morning nap. So we were calling each other every hour, reporting on The State Of The Naps and we finally gave up around noon. Ridiculous. And of course I didn't get anything DONE during the Freak Morning Nap because not for one second did I believe Jack was going to STAY asleep long enough for me to DO anything. Oh, the Frustrating Naptime Conundrums.
BUT. I will have you all know that I was the Picture of Flexibility. At no point during the confusing and unplanned and uncertain and totally wasted morning did I get bent out of shape. Nor did I sit very still on the couch, watching the clock, going over all possible scenarios in my head. I did not wonder if I should wake them up, I did not pack a diaper bag and strategize Most Efficient Dressing Methods so we could get out of the house as soon as they woke up, I did not email my husband to whine. No! I cleaned my counters, I caught up on blogs, I changed the channel from PBSKids to grown up news, I remembered to take chicken out of the freezer for dinner, I read some more blogs...
I'm just SAYING. Usually I'm a bit more PERTURBED.
And it's just one of those weeks, too. Easter totally worked us over. Jack and Molly were small superstars on the actual day, looking all festive and acting all heartmeltingly ADORABLE, but I paid for it on Monday. Jack was a Grade A pest and Molly pulled out every single Needy Clingy Baby stop. It was like they both woke up, took one look at me, realized no one else was around to entertain them and thought, "Um, what is THIS about, hmm? Where are our adoring crowds? WHERE IS GRANDMA?"
Then I had a meeting tonight, I have another meeting tomorrow night, and Thursday night is Phillip's one night a month to sit inside the server room with all the other dedicated IT guys. (We didn't even bother making a dinner menu for this week- I just went to the store and bought a bunch of stuff that 1) Jack will eat and 2) cooks in 2 minutes.) I am on the computer tonight because Phillip has some work to do and there's nothing good on TV. I had some more thoughts about yesterday's post, but I'm saving them for Parenting. You: edge of your seat.
Tonight's meeting was one-time-only, but tomorrow's meeting is one I've been attending monthly for three (THREE) years. My term is up in June. Should I re-up? With another group this time, of course. I'm sure the liturgy people are extra super sick of my, "I think either song is fine!" and "Sorry, I didn't notice, I don't pay attention in Mass anymore." I can't decide. On one hand, I'm sort of over the committee thing. On the other, I'm the kind of person who likes to be Involved, and hello, that's two hours of GROWN UP CONVERSATION.
ANYWAY.
If you're still seeing the therapist about not winning my Box of Random Crap, go visit Amanda who DID win and posted pictures, publishing proof to the internet that sometimes, contrary to my nephews' belief, I actually manage to get off my butt and visit the post office.

I find that if my husband and I talk about our days and what's going on for just 10 minutes, I feel good about it. I don't know if that's pathetic or not, but oh well.
I say join another committee. I am a need-to-be-involved person too.

I had an ice cream sandwich for breakfast this morning. The kind made out of chocolate chip cookies.
I need to get some kind of nap schedule thing going on here. Right now it is... Darn, I don't remember what I was going to say because she woke up halfway through her nap and it is now ten minutes after I wrote that.

"Most Efficient Dressing Methods." Tee hee! I am very familiar with this planning strategy! Diaper bag at the ready, clothes chosen and laid out, etc. My husband doesn't think getting the children dressed and out of the house is all that much trouble, but that's because I'm the one doing all the prep work! :o)

I, too, have been so frustrated with the inconsistencies! (Of course, the kids are 2.5 years and 7 months, so it makes sense that they are inconsistent, but STILL.) Some days Julia wakes up at 5:45, today it was 7:45. Some days she'll nap for 3 hours, some days 30 minutes. It definitely makes it hard to plan anything or get anything done!

Yeah, I'm gonna second that first comment - sign up for another term. why not. Or maybe join the choir / other group in church...for a little variety (Here's where you might find it interesting that I'd love to join our church's social committee and choir, but am such an introvert I'd probably never pluck up enough courage to go ahead and ask, which is laughable actually...but not really. Say err....could I just live vicariously through you? mm?

There I am, checking my google analytics for the first time today... when I am suddenly like WHOA. Um? Is this MY blog and who the CRAP visited 200 times today? Did my mother-in-law finally find my blog? (Please God, NOOOO!)
Then, I realized that I had 98 referrals from your site. Ge'ez girl! Can I please have your internet friends???
Why can't I make friends like that IN REAL LIFE?!?
You are quite the popular gal, I must say!
