Brown, pink, green and SUPER CUTE

    *RAW BOTTOM UPDATE*

All is well. We were fully expecting to be up in the middle of the night changing a screamy baby, but he slept through and didn't make a peep when Phillip changed him in the morning. He still has a bit of a rash, but it looks better and we're back to the regular annoying diaper changes, in which the mom attempts to slap the diaper on before the toddler dives over the side of the dresser.

I posted the State of the Bottom in the comments section, but does anyone ever read that? I never go back to see if someone updated in the comments. So there you go. Also, here is some info regarding the Cheung Diapering System. We have about 15 or 16 BumGenius pocket diapers. We've been using them since Jack was about two months old and Phillip and I both think they're swell. I don't remember Jack getting diaper rash until he was at least 6 or 7 months old (all the moms in my old moms' group would share remedies and I'd be sitting there basking in my excellent diaper rash avoiding skill) and it would only last a day. However! Jack sleeps in disposables, originally because we thought a doubled cloth diaper looked way too uncomfortable for sleeping. But now we do it because I am afraid of diaper rash and Phillip is suspicious of the diaper's ability to, uh, last all night. We normally use Pampers because that's what they used in the hospital and they seemed fine. Lately we've been using store brands and Costco diapers because WOW diapers are expensive when you run out and your mother-in-law hasn't stopped by with her usual Target baby supply haul and you actually have to buy them yourself. (Store brands seem to run smaller- anyone think so?) ANYWAY. Yesterday we padded the kid up in Pampers and a layer of Triple Paste and voila- no screaming today. I kind of think he's just feeling better. Everyone kept mentioning fruit in the comments and I was all, "We HAVE been eating a lot of fruit lately..."

*AND NOW I TELL YOU ABOUT THE PACKAGE OF PRETTY*

There was much squee in the air when I opened up a box addressed to "Mighty Baby Cheung" over the weekend and found this inside:

    SQUEE!

I am a horrible photographer so you can't tell that those adorable tags say ELEPHANT EARS, the name of Elizabeth's fantabulous Etsy store. I love love love her baby things. I don't quite remember how I found Elizabeth's blog, but one of the first posts I read was her Christmas wish list and I was all, "I have that!" or "I want that!" or "I WAS TOTALLY GOING TO BUY THAT!" so it follows that I think everything in her Etsy store is THE BEE'S KNEES.

Also, she can totally predict your baby's gender, like, FOR REAL. Why she hasn't started an internet business for THAT is beyond me.

Anyway! Is it wrong to say that the only reason the thought of attending BlogHer this year EVER crossed my mind is because I would get to meet Elizabeth? I won't be going to BlogHer because 1) no one gave me free plane tickets and 2) it looks really bad for a seven months' pregnant woman to start in on her third glass of wine so... yeah. Another time.

What else was I planning to tell you about? Oh yeah, the Situation going on upstairs, in which we have moved every piece of furniture a hundred times, only to PUT EVERYTHING BACK IN THEIR ORIGINAL PLACES. Except I now have a rocking chair in my bedroom with a loooovely green blanket draped over the back. A friend of mine was saying I should post pictures when I'm done, but then I was all, "Have you MET my Internet friends? They are all SECRET INTERIOR DESIGNERS. Posting pictures means instantly dying of color scheme SHAME." Not to mention we are not even close to having anything to take pictures of. ALAS. ALACK.

I leave you with a picture of my kitchen, which is pretty much the only room in our house that we are not rearranging (because we like it, and also because certain people have turned me off to remodeling forEVER).

The one-year-old, however, I take total credit for.

Aw, thank you Maggie! You're too sweet and I am very sad you won't be at Blogher :(

I love love love your kitchen. The cabinets are exactly what I want in my kitchen.

And question...do you feel like your dark hardwood floors (are they dark? They look dark) show dirt/dust more easily? I am trying to pick a floor color and dark makes me nervous, but I love how it looks.

Oh my gosh - your nifty gifty is SO SUPER CUTE! And so is Jack!

Any post with an adorable picture of Jack is well worth the time to check! He doesn't look like the diaper rash thing has him down too much.

I am so with you... I never go back and check the comments for updates. Thanks for putting it in your post.
