    A thesaurus entry for "tired"

I couldn't think of anything to write yesterday, even with Princess Nebraska's writing prompt. I mean, there are only so many ways to say "I'm exhausted" and I'm pretty sure I've used most of them already.

I spent most of my day organizing the upstairs (while Jack hovered around me swinging his new toy, a wrapping paper tube I foolishly neglected to immediately recycle) and I think I can say it looks decent. His closet is emptied of everything unnecessary, space was made in the dresser for pink onesies and sleepers, the wardrobe is finally finished (we had to get Ikea to send us extra hardware) and all the pictures are up. I'm dying to give back the one baby item we still have on loan from friends, a swing we never ever used, but the friends are moving and it wouldn't be nice to just show up tomorrow morning, swing in hand. I vacuumed, I dusted, I placed the stuffed animals on the shelf just so. It was all very nesty and comforting, even with the repeated whacks from the wrapping paper tube.

I still have to set up the portable crib (thanks Mom!) and (even better) buy the girly bedding to go inside. Any recommendations for where to buy portable crib bedding? I'm thinking we'll keep the pack 'n play downstairs because OMG you guys, I am now completely freaking out over all the things I won't be able to do due to Two Babies and Two Flights of Stairs. I don't know why I'm so worried about this- plenty of people live in two story houses. What's one more story?! But I never rarely leave Jack on one floor while I'm on another. Sometimes I know I'm going to take two seconds to grab a pair of socks upstairs, or I get tired of trying to coax him to climb the stairs by himself and I haul the groceries up without waiting for him to go first. So now I have to make sure I can do everything on every floor. I want the pack 'n play in the living room so I can put New Baby down for naps without dragging Jack along. I'll need diapers and wipes in the living room AND my room (because we're not doing middle-of-the-night diaper changes in Jack's room.) I've worked hard to make Jack's room more play-friendly, because I think we might be spending a lot more time up there.

Don't even talk to me about how you go to Target with two babies. I'm not even sure how I get myself, two babies and their assorted luggage down the stairs and into the GARAGE.

I'm starting to feel that familiar anxiety tension in my shoulder blades. I don't know if I'm nervous about the baby coming or what. You are probably all thinking "DUH" but I don't know, a lot of times that shoulder blade tension is there because there's nothing on TV. As in: NO GOOD REASON. Note to self: schedule glorious pregnancy massage before you are so huge you are embarrassed to get a glorious pregnancy massage.

    Have I mentioned I'm tired?

I wrote about months Eight through Twelve on Parenting today. I wonder if the Parenting editors are considering deleting my bio over there and replacing it with: WHINES A LOT.

Don't worry guys, I'm going to take over this blogging thing to SAVE US ALL.

Oooh! Oooh! What did you think of Project Runway last night? I thought [SPOILER!] Bettie Page and her vaguely reminiscent of Daniel V's orchid dress should have won. But that's because I think I like Bettie Page and can't stand The Suede. Oh well.

    Comments

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who thought Daniel Vosovic orchid blouse when I saw that dress. I think they fell in love with the craftsmanship and technique that was in the winning garment as opposed to the sheer prettiness of Bettie Page's piece.

I will say that because of Suede everyone I know is talking in the third person. We're actually thinking of turning it into a drinking game where you take a sip every time he uses a personal pronoun. Double points if its an I. Bonus round for every mention of leath-uh.

My dog loves to play with cardboard tubes! I bet she would get along great with Jack.

You don't look like you are even close to being huge yet.

It frightens me that you remember the PR designs from seasons past, but in a good way. :)
My bff and I just looked for mini crib bedding online and we found exactly two options - gingham, or jungle. They went with jungle.
I want to see pictures of the finished room! But at least we got to see a Maggie and Jackson picture. Yeah! You look beautiful!
I totally relate to focusing obsessively on one looming issue, such as the Having Stairs Problem. I try to remind myself that all the things I usually find to worry about ahead of time turn into nothing, and the things that ARE big deals I couldn't have seen coming in a million years. Sometimes it almost works.

Haha! I love the caption of that photo. Cute. (And your new bio.)

When I got to the bottom of the post and saw "SPOILER", I literally gasped and covered up the screen with my hands, like "No! Don't look, Ashley!"

    Wow.

OK, you look very cute in that photo. Also, we had to get Ikea to ship us new hardware once. Bastards.

Well, don't you all look cute--you look nice in the red top, and not tired at all.

Sounds like a good strategy on your reorganizing the rooms. Two things come to mind: (1) awareness is the first step to fixing things, and then (2) 95% of the things we worry about never come to pass. I think you're in good shape.

Re PR: Is it wrong that I liked Stella's design a lot? Kenley's (she's Bettie Page, right?) collar was on Emily's grocery dress last week, so. . . eh. Suede lucked out when Portman started gushing IMO. But the most hilarious thought occurred to me when they were interviewing the models: How much of a train wreck would this have been with the crazy Season One models and having THEM shop at Mood? Yikes.

So where's this hugeness that you're talking about? I totally don't see it! You definitely don't look third trimester in that pic!

Also? You have to carry groceries UP stairs? I think I'd stop grocery shopping (but then we'd need to find more reasons to get out of the house..).

You and your captions! Too funny.

Kaylee loves any and all recyclables that aren't immediately put away. It's kind of nice though, she's gets really focused. Of course, it can be problematic if she decides to start sucking on cardboard.

Also, don't worry too much about having two. You'll figure it all out (that's what moms do, right)?

Ha, ha wrapping paper tube. Good thing we spend millions of dollars on toys for these little gremlins!! Not that your kid is a gremlin. Ah crap you know what I mean.

How DO you take two babies to Target? Or ANYwhere for that matter? I'm wondering the same and have started to freak out a little. I have a 15-month boy, and am having a baby girl in 12 days or less. TWELVE DAYS!
