Filler
Down at the grandparents' today. We left early, due to the rental car that Jack and I both hate (Jack could sleep on the way, I didn't have to freak out about not being able to see him because there's nowhere to put the carseat mirror) and now my dad is upstairs giving him a bath. I am reading blogs and eating Hershey's Kisses. It's only 10 in the morning, but it's never a wrong time to eat chocolate at my mom and dad's house.
I actually have a couple of posts brewing (although now that I've said that, I'll probably never write them) but today I leave you with Preparing For The First Birthday Party, Oh Dear God over at Parenting.com. (Dear Mom: I might have made a tiny bit of fun of you, but hopefully I made up for it by extolling your Mad Rad Cake Decorating Skillz. Love, the Daughter Who Exploits Her Family For Blogging Purposes.) And also, do you know what I was doing exactly one year ago today? BLOGGING THROUGH LABOR. (Okay, early labor, but people it took for-freaking-ever.)
Tomorrow: A Year with Fat the Bunny!

I'm still having a hard time believing that he's a year old. Time flies when your entire world is wrapped up in the whims of a tiny human. I'm learning that. Olivia and Jack are almost exactly 6 months apart, and I still can't believe that I have a 6-MONTH OLD. Wow.

In honor of last year, I just went back and re-read all of the posts from then. Did I mention that I am supposed to be working? But you and tiny Jack are so much more interesting!

Parents wouldn't let me comment....and I have no patience....so I'll do it here.
I LOVE the idea of a giraffe...(what, no Fat the Bunny cake?) That will be so cute! You'll have to share pictures. Christopher's 1st bday cake was a bee, and although I got stung a couple of times trying to get it together, it came out great.
But he didn't eat it. No frosting face photos for me - all of our pictures have my boy making a face while his auntie and grandmother try to force it into his mouth. Maybe next year.
Check out www.cakecentral.com - you can do a search and probably get a lot of ideas for how to conquer the giraffe.

Birthday! Yay! And I must say, your post on giving birth is what TOTALLY hooked me on your site. I hope you do it again this time around!!

Okay, so I have both a related and unrelated comment.
Related: I am up to my eyeballs in Mother's Day festivities for my mum and her brunch and not quite in my planning high phase yet. I sympathize.
Unrelated: Said mum only eats meat and eggs for 3.5 out of 7 days of the week. So, I was just whipping up a batch of egg free coconut banana muffins for her and thought of your travails. I grew up having to cook for a mum with downright spiteful self inflicted dietary requirements. At first it is an absolute pain, but then it becomes second nature. You'll be fine (not that you needed me to say that). Now I have to go pull those muffins out.
