    One link, two costumes

I've got One Million things I need to write about, probably none of which you are explicitly interested in, but 1) I have to feed the baby and 2) I am reading a good book and 3) I haven't yet watched this week's episode of The Good Wife (deep breath) THEREFORE all you get is this link to my piece at Parenting for tomorrow. The iPad Generation. Yes, I used the passing of Steve Jobs to help me out with a post topic. I was also Overly Sensitive about how much we let the kids USE the iPad. OH WELL.

Oh wait! Question! So Jack decided he wanted to be THE HULK for Halloween and would not be talked out of it. Then he wanted to be Captain America and would not be talked out of it. What is wrong with a hobo! Or a clown! Or even a NON-SUPERHERO character! But then when we went to Target to buy the costumes he seemed enthralled with Batman, which I am chalking up to the fact that his older cousin is going to be Batman and that piece of information somehow lodged itself in Jack's brain. Like this: BIG COUSIN = BATMAN = OBVS SHOULD BE BATMAN TOO.

But the Batman costumes were either the all black NEW Batman, of which I disapprove for a four-year-old, or the old school Batman in sizes Way Too Small. So I told him I would order him a Batman costume online. But Internet, where do I buy a cool Batman costume? Should I just order the Target one? Can I MAKE one? I believe his cousin's mother is buying his costume from Etsy, but let's just say I'm a lot cheaper than she is.

MOLLY was going to be Minnie Mouse (my sister bought her the outfit and ears on a trip to Disneyland) but then I dug out the costume box yesterday and she found last year's costume (the pink butterfly suit from Old Navy) and now she is going to be a butterfly. Again. As much as this seems WRONG (wear the same costume AGAIN?!) it also seems EASY and I am planning not to argue/influence. So smart of me!

I'm totally planning to use Will's costume again. Still fits, so why not?

Well, my 4 year old was talked into wearing last year's Spiderman costume again, win! But, I did just buy him some really cool Batman pajamas at target, complete with a cape. Maybe that would work? Both affordable, and re-usable!

My six year old wants to be Batman from Batman: the Brave and the Bold this year. So far we've found this:

I have no idea where to get a batman costume...did you try amazon?? My daughter is going to be a bee. I have a feeling this may be the final year that we get to choose her costume without any of her input :/

We reuse costumes every year. They either get passed down or made into something else if that is possible. I've ordered costumes from Costume Express before and I've never had a problem. Good luck!

Jack chose "Bumblebee," who is a Transformer. It's a little sad for me. The world! Is influencing him! (Because obviuously WE'VE never show him Transformers.)

Does this do anything for you today? http://www.babycheapskate.com/2011/10/06/spend-10-get-20-worth-of-costumes-from-halloweencostumes-com/

Matt will be delighted to see a small Batman. He always gives extra candy to the Batmans that come to our house.

We are reusing costumes too. But they also usually end up wearing multiple costumes each year too.

We have a hand me down batman that came from a second hand store we'll be using this year.

I got my son (3) the "Brave and the Bold" one at Party City. I did have a $10 off coupon, which helped. I don't know if there's one near you, but they do sell online as well. I personally liked the one with fake muscles because it made it comically funny...which lessened the annoyance of it being just the blah store-bought superhero costume.

Here's a link I used to make a cape last year. It turned out great. He just wore it with a mask we bought, and a Batman t-shirt.

I did toy with the idea of having my daughter wear the same costume as last year. She wore a little slik outfit my parents brought back from their trip to China and I think it would still fit. We happened upon another costume, though, so I don't think she's doing that.

I love little girls dressed up as Minnie Mouse!
